GROUP-BASED SUPPORTS
Find your people. Do what you love.
Interest-based group supports designed to create genuine opportunities for connection, confidence and belonging — built around things people actually want to do.
WHY INTEREST-BASED GROUPS?
Something in common makes connection easier.
Social connection can be difficult when the focus is simply on “being social”. That's why our groups start somewhere else — with a shared interest.
Having something to do together creates a natural starting point for conversation, participation and connection, while our team provides the support and structure each participant needs to engage in their own way.
The activity brings people together. What grows from there is the important part.
CURRENT BDL GROUPS
Find something you're into.
Our groups are built around shared interests, with support available to help participants connect, participate and get the most out of the experience.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
Roll the dice.
Step into a shared adventure where imagination, teamwork and a little chaos are all part of the fun.
Our Dungeons & Dragons groups bring participants together to create characters, explore stories, solve problems and make decisions as a team — creating natural opportunities for communication, confidence and connection along the way.

BOARD-GAMES & CHESS
Pull up a chair.
A relaxed, welcoming space to play, learn and connect with others through boardgames, chess and shared interests.
Participants can try new games, bring along old favourites and spend time with people who enjoy the same things — with support available to build confidence, communication and participation along the way.

SWORDCRAFT
Adventure beyond the table.
For participants who want something a little more active, BDL can support participation in Swordcraft — a community-based activity combining movement, imagination, teamwork and social connection.
Support can focus on building the confidence and practical skills needed to participate, navigate the social environment and become more actively involved in the wider community.

MORE WAYS TO CONNECT
Groups can grow with the people in them.
Our group-based supports aren't about filling a calendar with activities. They're shaped around shared interests, meaningful participation and what the people we support actually want to do.
As interests and opportunities evolve, so can our groups.
Have an interest you'd love to explore with others? We'd love to hear about it.
SUPPORT WITH PURPOSE
More than an activity.
Our groups are designed to be enjoyable — but the value goes beyond the activity itself. Shared experiences create natural opportunities to build confidence, practise skills and develop genuine connections with others.
01
Connection
Build relationships through shared experiences, common interests and time spent together.
02
Confidence
Become more comfortable participating, communicating, contributing and trying new things.
03
Social skills
Practise communication, collaboration, problem-solving and navigating group dynamics through real experiences.
04
Belonging
Have somewhere consistent to show up, be included and spend time with people who share your interests.
Having fun and working toward meaningful goals don't have to be separate things.
FINDING THE RIGHT FIT
You don't have to be a “group person”.
You don't need to be outgoing, confident or already comfortable in groups to take part.
Our group-based supports are designed to accommodate different personalities, communication styles, interests and levels of social confidence. Some people jump straight in. Others prefer to observe, take their time or participate in their own way.
Our team works with each participant to understand what helps them feel comfortable, included and able to engage meaningfully.
Meet people with similar interests
Connection can feel easier when there's already something in common.
Build social confidence
Practise being around others and participating at a pace that feels manageable.
Develop communication skills
Learn through actual interactions rather than artificial social-skills exercises.
There's no one “right” way to participate!
Become part of something
Build familiarity, routine and connection through consistent participation.
