CAPACITY-BUILDING SUPPORTS

Build skills for the life you want to live.

Practical, individualised support focused on building skills, confidence and greater independence — at your pace, around your goals.

THE BUILD PROGRAM

BUILD.

Build independence. Strengthen skills. Demonstrate progress.

BUILD is Beyond Daily Life's structured 12-week Capacity Building program, designed to turn broader NDIS goals into practical skills that can be taught, practised and measured.

We start by identifying where the participant is now and breaking their broader goal into practical, observable skill steps. Over 12 weeks, those skills are deliberately taught and practised, while progress in independence and the level of assistance required are tracked over time.

At the end of BUILD, participants and authorised stakeholders receive a clear picture of what changed, what progress was made and what support may still be needed

BUILD isn't about doing things for you. It's about building the skills and confidence to do more for yourself.

THE BUILD APPROACH

What does BUILD mean?

B

Baseline
Establish where the participant is starting.

U

Understand
Identify goals, strengths, barriers and learning preferences.

I

Independence
Build the participant's ability to do more themselves.

L

Less Assistance
Progressively step back as capacity develops.

D

Demonstrate
Show measurable progress through improved independence, consistency and reduced assistance.

THE 12-WEEK PATHWAY

From goal to measurable outcome.

01 — Initial Assessment

We identify priorities, learning preferences, barriers and up to four practical skill steps, then establish a baseline and 12-week targets.

02 — Structured Skill Development

Skills are deliberately taught and practised during support sessions — with the focus on helping the participant take on more of the task themselves.

03 — Session Evidence

Sessions capture what was taught, what was practised, what assistance was needed, successes, barriers and what comes next.

04 — Fortnightly Progress Reviews

Every two weeks, the same skills are reviewed using a consistent independence scale so changes can be tracked over time.

05 — Final Assessment

Baseline, targets and end-of-program performance are compared alongside functional outcomes and participant feedback.

06 — Outcome Report

Authorised stakeholders receive a concise report showing measurable outcomes, remaining support needs, recommendations and a visual progress graph.

BUILT AROUND YOU

What could you BUILD?

DAILY LIVING
Cooking, meal preparation, shopping, household routines and practical skills for everyday life.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
Transport, planning outings, communication, social confidence and navigating community settings.

HEALTH & WELLBEING
Personal routines, health literacy, movement, emotional regulation and strategies that support wellbeing.

WORK & STUDY READINESS
Organisation, routines, communication, preparation and practical skills for employment or study.

BUILD isn't a fixed curriculum. Goals and skill areas are individualised to each participant, what matters to them and what they want to work toward.

IS BUILD A GOOD FIT?

Who is BUILD for?

BUILD is designed for NDIS participants who want to develop practical skills, build confidence and work toward greater independence in areas of everyday life.

It may be a good fit for participants who have a goal that can be broken into practical skill steps and would benefit from structured teaching, repeated practice and a clear way of tracking progress over time.

BUILD may be a good fit if you want to:

Build greater independence
Develop skills to take a more active role in everyday tasks and routines.

Learn through practice
Work on skills in real-life settings with structured, hands-on support.

Work toward a specific goal
Turn a broader NDIS goal into smaller, achievable skills and steps.

See your progress
Track changes in confidence, consistency, independence and the level of assistance needed over the 12 weeks.

Not sure whether BUILD is the right fit? That's okay — get in touch and our team can talk through your goals and support needs with you.

ACCESSING BUILD

Using your NDIS plan.

BUILD is delivered as a Capacity Building support for NDIS participants with relevant funding and goals.

Before commencing, our team will review the participant's goals and support needs to determine whether BUILD is an appropriate fit and identify the practical skill areas the program will focus on.

If you're unsure whether your current NDIS funding can be used for BUILD, get in touch with our team. We can discuss the program with you, your family or Support Coordinator and help identify the next steps.

01 — Get in touch
Tell us a little about the participant, their NDIS goals and what they'd like to work toward.

02 — Let's talk goals
We'll discuss their current support needs, priorities and whether BUILD is the right fit.

03 — Start BUILD
If it's a good fit, we'll establish the participant's baseline, identify their skill targets and begin the 12-week program.
